Moel Morfydd

Day Trails

For a larger-scale walking adventure, you could take The North Berwyn Way or The Dee Valley Way, following the whole routes in one go or simply collecting them section by section from easily accessible points.

Chain Bridge in Berwyn

North Berwyn Way

This 13-mile linear trail climbs the wild North Berwyn Mountains to the south of the River Dee. To walk the full 13 miles, start at either Corwen or Llangollen. Both towns are on the main A5 (London-Holyhead) road.

The route is waymarked, and split into five sections that start and finish at easily accessible points. This is a challenging route for experienced walkers and it’s essential to be properly equipped with walking boots, waterproof clothing and the large scale 1:25,000 OS Explorer map (orange cover): “255 Llangollen and the Berwyns”, on which the route can be followed in greater detail.

A view of the Dee Valley

Dee Valley Way

This regional path follows the course of the River Dee between the picturesque towns of Corwen and Llangollen. Although the guide sets out from Corwen, the Dee Valley Way can be walked in either direction.

The whole route is clearly waymarked and split into five sections that start and finish at easily accessible points. It’s a good idea to take along a large scale OS Explorer map (orange cover): either 255 Llangollen and the Berwyns, or 256 Llangollen and Wrexham, which show the route in greater detail – as well as revealing other places to visit along the way.
