Community Miles

Sometimes a walk means a simple stroll and a nice view!

Our Community Miles routes have been designed with both communities and visitors in mind. They each take a couple of hours, introduce you to local businesses and transport routes, show you hidden gems and get you fitter (there’s a calorie count for every walk).

We have improved existing routes with new stiles, gates and bridges, and waymarked them to make it easier to follow the route. Each walk has a leaflet with a map and information about what you will see, as well as ideas for local transportation to and from the beginning/end.

Llandyrnog

A Beautiful 4.3 mile circular walk around the village of Llandyrnog, taking in a largely unexplored part of the Vale of Clwyd.

Tremeirchion

A circular walk from Tremeirchion that links into the Offa’s Dyke Path National Trail whilst taking in the wide panoramas of the Vale of Clwyd.

Sun Bank Walk, Llangollen

A stunning 4.5 mile circular walk from Llangollen which climbs just enough to provide brilliant views of the Vale of Llangollen, as well as enjoying the tranquility of the canal.

Graigfechan

A circular walk from the village of Gragifechan, which links to Offa’s Dyke Path National Trail and takes in views of the Vale of Clwyd and beyond.

Llangynhafal and Hendrerwydd

A choice of interesting circular routes, which take in the Vale of Clwyd, Moel Famau Country Park, and Offa’s Dyke Path National Trail. The routes pass a number of historic features, including the sites of eight abandoned farm houses, a magical holy well, and the striking St Cynhafal’s church.

Ceidiog

A stunning walk from Llandrillo incorporating farmland, woodland, riverside paths, and breathtaking views up and down the Ceidiog Valley.

The Old Railway

Enjoy this gentle stroll in the beautiful Dee Valley along the old railway line near the amazing Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

Llandegla

Llandegla is a pretty rural village in the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley. It is immersed in a rich and varied history, with remnants of the past still visible today.

Minera Walk

Route number 15. A fascinating walk from Minera along peaceful woodland paths in the Clwyedog valley, with scenic views of Esclusham mountain. An area with a rich mining history, the very name Minera comes from the medieval Latin word for mine or Ore.
